Walls, ceilings, trim and doors

Interior Painters Vancouver

We paint the inside of Vancouver houses, condos and rental suites: walls, ceilings, trim, doors and closets, with drywall patching and furniture protection written into a room-by-room quote. You can keep living at home while the work moves from room to room.

What our interior painters do in a Vancouver home

Interior painting covers every painted surface inside: walls, ceilings, baseboards, casings, doors, closets and stair railings. Most of the result is decided before the first coat, in the patching, sanding, caulking and priming that make new paint look smooth.

A house and a condo need different plans. In a house, the questions are often tall stairwells, vaulted ceilings, worn trim in busy hallways and which floor to start on. In a condo or apartment, it is strata work hours, elevator bookings, tight spaces and keeping the kitchen and one bathroom usable every day.

Many interior jobs are small: a nursery before a baby arrives, a rental suite between tenants, or a living room and hallway that finally match. Others are the whole inside of the home before a move-in. Both get the same written scope, so you know exactly which rooms and surfaces are included.

What an interior painting quote covers

Pick the surfaces that need work. Each one is listed separately on the quote so the price is easy to follow.

  • Walls and accent walls in bedrooms, living areas, kitchens, bathrooms and hallways
  • Ceilings, including tall stairwell and vaulted ceilings
  • Baseboards, door and window casings, interior doors, closets and railings
  • Drywall patching: nail and anchor holes, dents, cracks and spot priming
  • Protection for floors, furniture, fixtures and counters, with switch plates removed
  • Colour and sheen choices per room, plus a final walkthrough and touch-ups

Sheen matters as much as colour. Flat paint hides flaws on ceilings. Matte or eggshell suits bedrooms and living rooms. Kitchens, bathrooms and kids' rooms need a finish you can wipe, and trim and doors hold up best in semi-gloss.

Vancouver light also changes how colours read. North-facing rooms and grey winter days make cool colours look colder, so test samples on two walls and look at them morning and evening before you commit. A colour consultation can help if you are stuck.

Keep a labelled can of each colour for future touch-ups. Leftover paint you do not need can go to a Product Care Recycling depot anywhere in BC.

Six things that decide how an interior repaint turns out

Good interior work is mostly preparation and planning. These are the points we settle with you before painting starts.

Book an interior walkthrough

01 / Prep first

Repairs are done before paint

Holes, dents and cracks are filled, sanded and spot-primed so they disappear under the finish coats instead of flashing through.

02 / Right finish

Sheen matched to the room

Wipeable finishes where hands and steam hit the walls, low sheen where you want flaws hidden.

03 / Lived-in homes

Rooms stay usable

We agree on which rooms are closed each day, so bedrooms, the kitchen and a bathroom stay available.

04 / Condos

Strata logistics sorted early

Work hours, elevator bookings and building paperwork are planned before the start date, not on the morning of.

05 / Colour

Colours tested in your light

Samples are viewed on your walls at different times of day, which matters in north-facing rooms and grey Vancouver winters.

06 / Finish

Walkthrough before we leave

You check each room with us, touch-ups are marked and completed, and switch plates go back on.

Interior rooms we have painted

How an interior painting job runs

Five steps, from the first walkthrough to the last touch-up. You always know which room is next.

Request a walkthrough
01

Walk the rooms together

We look at wall condition, ceiling height, trim, doors and any damage, and ask how each room is used day to day.

02

Get a room-by-room quote

Each room, ceiling and trim package is priced on its own line, with the paint finish and prep noted.

03

Pick dates and colours

We confirm colours and sheens, the room order, strata requirements for condos, and what you need to clear beforehand.

04

Protect, patch and prime

Floors and furniture are covered, repairs are filled and sanded, and bare patches are primed before colour goes on.

05

Paint, check and hand back

Finish coats go on, then we walk each room with you, complete touch-ups and leave the space clean.

Interior painting cost in Vancouver

A full-home interior repaint usually falls between $3,000 and $8,000 or more. Single rooms and condo suites are quoted on their own scope.

Full home interior repaint

Walls, ceilings and trim across the whole inside of the home.

$3,000-$8,000+

Single rooms and condo suites

One room, a few rooms, or a full condo, priced by the surfaces you choose.

Quoted by scope

Five things move an interior price most: ceiling height and stairwells, the amount of drywall repair, how much trim and how many doors are included, a strong colour change that needs an extra coat, and how full the rooms are.

To compare quotes fairly, check that each one lists the same rooms, the same surfaces, the number of coats and the paint line. A cheaper quote that leaves out ceilings or primer is not a cheaper job.

Interior painting across Vancouver

Our interior painters work in houses, townhomes, condos and rental suites across Vancouver and nearby cities. Downtown and West End towers, low-rise condos in Fairview and Mount Pleasant, and older houses in Kitsilano and Kerrisdale each bring their own access and prep questions.

Landlords and property managers also book us for suites between tenants, when a quick, clean repaint matters more than a colour change.

Tell us the address, the rooms and your timing, and we will confirm the walkthrough.

Interior painting questions

Straight answers on cost, timing, prep and living at home while rooms are painted.

How much do interior painters charge in Vancouver?
A full-home interior repaint usually lands in the $3,000-$8,000+ range. A single room or a condo suite is quoted on its own scope. The number moves with ceiling height, how much drywall repair is needed, the amount of trim and doors, a big colour change, and how full the rooms are. A walkthrough gives you a written, room-by-room price.
How long does it take to paint a room?
An empty room with sound walls is often a one-day job for walls alone. Patching, primer on repairs, ceilings, trim, doors and a dark-to-light colour change each add time, mostly because of drying between coats. Your quote lists the rooms in order so you know which spaces are out of use and for how long.
Can I stay in my home or condo while you paint?
Yes. Most interior jobs happen in lived-in homes. We agree on which rooms stay usable each day, keep a clear path to kitchens and bathrooms, and plan around home offices, nap times and pets before the start date.
Do you move furniture and protect floors?
Furniture and floor protection is part of every interior quote. It helps if you clear small items, artwork and electronics before we start. Larger pieces are discussed at the walkthrough so the plan for each room is clear.
Do you repair drywall before painting?
Yes. Nail and anchor holes, dents, hairline cracks and patched areas are filled, sanded and spot-primed before the finish coats, so repairs do not show through. Larger damage, such as a water-stained ceiling, is noted at the walkthrough and priced separately once the leak itself is fixed.
What paint finish should I use in each room?
A common approach is flat or matte on ceilings, matte or eggshell on bedroom and living room walls, a scrubbable eggshell or satin in kitchens, bathrooms and kids' rooms, and semi-gloss on trim and doors. We confirm the finish for each surface in the quote.
Can you use low-VOC paint?
Yes. Canada already caps VOC content in architectural paints by product category, and low-VOC and zero-VOC interior lines are widely available. If someone in the home is sensitive to odours, tell us at the walkthrough and the product line will be written into the quote.
Do you paint condos, and what about strata rules?
Yes. For a condo we plan around your strata's work hours, elevator bookings and any contractor forms the building asks for. Check those rules with your property manager early, because they can decide the start date. For hallways, lobbies and other common areas, see our strata painting page.
